About Chris De Pree
Chris De Pree received his BS in Physics from Duke University (1988) and PhD in Physics from UNC Chapel Hill (1996). After completing his PhD as a Predoctoral Fellow for NRAO in Socorro, NM, he joined the faculty at Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, GA, where he taught Physics & Astronomy and carried out astronomical research on massive star formation in the Milky Way for 25 years. In 2021, De Pree joined NRAO as Project Director for the National Radio Dynamic Zone (NRDZ) Project and Deputy Spectrum Manager. In Spring 2025, he was appointed AD for Spectrum Management at NRAO. De Pree has written a number of popular science books, including Idiot’s Guides: The Cosmos and Astronomical Mindfulness, and lives in Charlottesville, VA.
