Video recordings and slide decks from SpectrumX’s–the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Spectrum Innovation Center–Fall 2025 Center Meeting are now available online. Twice a year, Center Members gather to share updates, insights, and plans at a multi-day Center Meeting. For the Center’s second meeting of the year, Members met at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from Sunday, October 19 to Tuesday, October 21, 2025. A hybrid option was available for those unable to attend the event in person.
On Sunday, October 19, Center Members gathered for a welcome event, and full programming began on Monday, October 20. Sessions on Monday included student and external expert panels, research updates, and a poster session. Tuesday’s sessions included a leadership development workshop, additional external expert panels and research presentations, and a tour of UW-Madison’s Space Science & Engineering Center.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the earlier Spring 2025 SpectrumX Center Meeting held in April was a fully remote event. This allowed Center Members to gather virtually to share updates and progress, but limited the amount of networking possible. The in-person Fall Center Meeting allowed significant opportunities for connections and discussions between Members across institutions and disciplines outside of the planned sessions.
“When we’re physically together…that creates real space for brainstorming and collaboration. These meetings are essential for building the synergy that allows us to accomplish outcomes none of us could achieve individually. In-person time is where new ideas emerge, projects take shape, and the whole truly becomes greater than the sum of its parts,” said Ali Abedi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Sciences at UW-Madison, noting the impact of the in-person modality.
The Spring 2026 SpectrumX Center Meeting is expected to be held in person in April or May 2026. Additional information, including location, dates, and registration details, on this meeting is forthcoming and will be made available on the SpectrumX website and LinkedIn.
