SpectrumX Announces Formal Partnership with Airbase

SpectrumX, the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Spectrum Innovation Center, is pleased to announce that Airbase has joined its Collaboration Advisory Board (CAB).

Airbase, which exited stealth on March 25, 2026, is working to improve radio frequency spectrum infrastructure to address coordination and access challenges. Through developing software-based spectrum management systems, Airbase aims to make spectrum allocation more dynamic and agile for commercial and government users.

“At Airbase, our mission is to modernize spectrum licensing and coordination, and true modernization requires an ecosystem approach that bridges the gap between software, science, and policy. SpectrumX is leading vital foundational research on the future of spectrum use,” said Ari Rosner, CEO of Airbase. “By collaborating with them, we can leverage their existing work and utilize their network as a platform to unite industry, academia, and government, turning cutting-edge research into reality.”

The collaboration will enable Airbase to discuss key spectrum challenges relevant to its work directly with NSF SpectrumX’s researchers to improve problem-solving and research efforts.

“We are excited to welcome Airbase to the SpectrumX Collaboration Advisory Board. Their expertise and forward-looking vision will strengthen our collaborative efforts and help accelerate innovation across the spectrum ecosystem,” said Cong Shen, Deputy Director of the NSF SpectrumX Collaboration, Innovation, & Commercialization Working Group.

Organizations that join the CAB support SpectrumX’s research, education, and workforce development efforts by:

  • Presenting challenges and industry needs to the NSF SpectrumX community. This can be done in CAB meetings, individual meetings with researchers or program leadership, or at regularly scheduled meetings (e.g., Working Group meetings, Center meetings).
  • Participating in SpectrumX meetings and events in-person, virtually, or asynchronously. The agreement also enables researchers and students to visit CAB facilities, and vice versa, to build relationships and knowledge of needs, challenges, and innovations.
  • Interacting with SpectrumX community members, from research partners and leadership to SpectrumX-affiliated students. CAB members are also encouraged to review interim and annual reports to learn more about the research being conducted and achieved through the SpectrumX Center.

SpectrumX CAB is considering applications from interested organizations on a rolling basis. Please visit SpectrumX’s Get Involved page to learn more about getting involved with the center.
