Randy Hamper joined NSF SpectrumX as a technical project manager in 2026. He is also the manager of the University of Notre Dame Physics Machine Shop. Prior to joining the NSF SpectrumX team, Randy worked as a project manager and mechanical engineer for Notre Dame on telescope instrumentation projects. He is also a Navy Reserve Engineering Duty Officer, where he has taken on multiple project management roles. Hamper has a doctorate in astronomy from Indiana University, a master of science degree in physics from Ball State University, and a bachelor of science degree in physics from Iowa State University.
