About Anja Fourie
Anja Fourie is Deputy Director: Education and Workforce Development for NSF SpectrumX and Project Director: Broader Impacts at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO). Anja has more than 20 years’ experience in the management of programs and projects that promote the responsive, innovative, and ethical use of science facilities and research for societal benefit, including science in/formal education, workforce development, public outreach, and science engagement. Some of her most memorable program/project management work includes the development of interactive content and education programs for museums in Africa and the Middle East, leading South Africa’s annual National Science Festival and its outreach programs, and teaching project management to graduate students at NRAO. Anja has a degree in Journalism and Media Studies and worked as a science journalist at South Africa’s national broadcaster before discovering project management.
